What if everybody's ideas mattered? Would you want that? How would you create a workplace where everybody's ideas were considered? Would you want that? Would you want to be part of that?

1. Work in an a way where all of the written information is available to all of the participants. (Everybody)
1a. For example, instead of emails, all of the information is instead in a common "container" that everybody on a project can read.

2. Work in an a way where all of the important information is written rather than the result of conversations so that everybody is fully aware of the same information.
2a. For example, eliminate face-time and, instead, work in a fully distributed team using a asynchronous technique's that encourage build-up of searchable written information.

3. Work in a way where people can ask for help as they join up and get on board by using the past experiences of others who worked on similar problems. Conversely, be able to help others in a way that your help is visible and future members can also benefit.
3a. For example, easily search to discover if anyone else ever worked on a similar problem and find out if anybody familiar with that effort is still around.

4. Work in a way where everybody can propose parts of ideas and can affect the implementation of the idea, whether you're a top dog or a person of lesser influence. (Don't wait your turn, don't need to be asked for your opinion. Learn from your earlier opinions.)
4a. For example, be able to easily assemble all of the ideas into anonymous elections where all the participating team members can vote and the result is available to all. (a smart crowd).)

5. Work in a way where team plans exist for everybody, and everybody understands their part of the job.
5a. For example, be able to easily assemble a shared checklists, based on previous plans, available for all, with questions and answers visible to all.

6. Work in a way where everybody has control over their own efforts, like when they work, where they work, what they do next, how they adjust to unforeseen situations in a way where they can get help if they need it.
6a. For example, eliminate face-time, and instead use asynchronous distributed team processes to keep informed and to keep everybody else informed (similar to Facebook and Twitter is used for social.)

7. Work in a way where your results and the entire teams results matter more than your job title, or how you dress, or how you talk, or you ability to scmooze.
7a. For example, eliminate face-time and work in a way where you ideas and everybody else's idea are right out there, for all to see and ask about.

8. Manage in a way where you don't have to (always) be the smartest guy in the place, in fact where you can be aware of everybody's ideas, where you can learn from the opinions and expertise of a smart crowd, where you can quietly change your mind as more information comes available, where everybody cares about their job so you can count on everybody trying & hopefully, make more "good" decisions based on your increased awareness.
8a. In other words, eliminate face-time, provide each person more control of their job, use asynchronous communications (similar to Facebook, Twitter), use distributed "ceremony's" to increase the focus of the people, and the group productivity on your project, be sure you have everybody's hearts and minds, cause you know they know their effort matters. If the team result was not successful, look back and figure out how you screwed it up, and get better next time.

Would you want that?
