How Does BlueJean Time Protect my Privacy?

BlueJean Time protects your privacy right from the start!

A Place that you create is private by default. This is true whether you create a Place using the Get a Room! function or selecting Create Place from the Place dropdown menu. Only the creator and the invited members are aware that the Place exists. Even a novice user of BlueJean Time can create a work space that is safe and private.

When you join the community, it is not broadcast across the Internet--or even made public. BlueJean Time will never repost your information without your consent to your other social media accounts (i.e., Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter.) If you were invited by another member of BlueJean Time via e-mail, this member will be informed. The administrative staff of BlueJean Time will also know. No other members will be aware that you have joined unless you connect with them.

Your messages are never reproduced. When you receive an e-mail alerting you that a topic has been updated or changed, it will never contain the content of that topic. Only the following will be included: the name of the person who made the update, the time the update was made, the name of the artifact, and the Place where it is located on BlueJean Time.

Your feed does not contain the updates. Our feeds are simple and streamlined to protect your privacy. If a passerby or a colleague sees your feed, he or she will not be able to see what happens inside of a Place or an artifact unless you have chosen to open it on your screen.

Your personal contact information is never made public. The only way to gain access to another member is through artifacts (such as Topics) and visiting their profile page. Only the information you choose to display is available for other members to view.

The Places you join are private. There is no list of Places that you have joined on your profile page. Members can only see that you are a member of a Place if they also belong to that Place.

The Invite by Email feature does not reveal if you are already a member. If another member tries to invite you by e-mail, BlueJean Time will not indicate whether you are already a member or whether you need to register for the platform. This makes it difficult for another member to learn information about you without your knowledge or agreement.

You don't have to use the e-mail where you received the invite. Did the invitation go to your professional e-mail account when you would prefer to use your personal handle? Was your e-mail address compromised, and now you need to change it? Don't worry. Your BlueJean Time account is not bound to one e-mail address. If you change your e-mail on the platform, the user who invited you is not informed. The address that you choose to use for notification purposes remains private.

We don't collect any extraneous information. We ask for a minimal amount of information. This is only for notifications and to determine that you interacting, doing business, and/or collaborating with the right person. Unlike some sites, BlueJean Time does not seek to collect information like date of birth, address, high school attended, or what kind of music you like. We only need your name, e-mail address, and phone number. The profile photograph and bio information you share is your choice. You can supply as little information--or as much--as you'd like.

Most importantly: we at BlueJean Time will never sell your information.

So, one important distinction between work vs social networking is that privacy of collaboration (in work) needs to be private unless intentionally made public for marketing, recruiting or other business or personal reasons.
